Jana's Family letter Sept. 2009

Dear Family,

Hi everyone! Jon and I haven't written in the family letter for a very long time due to the fact that we have been very busy. Jon and I don't have a blog page but my mom and dad said they would post this letter for us. Jon has been busy working at Handstands in Draper, UT as a production worker and is still attending Salt Lake Community College studying Criminal Justice. He wants to be a profiler which is kind of like a detective and work for the government. He isn't going to school this semester because he could not afford to go. He has two classes left which are English and Math. If things go well he will graduate from Salt Lake Community College and the end of Spring semester next year with his Associates degree. After the community college Jon only has two years left before he will receive his Bachelor's degree.

Jon and I have been married for three years now and we are still enjoying life. As for me this year has been a struggle because the economy kind of went downhill and I lost my job and I have been unemployed for awhile now. It is not that I am lazy because I have been doing everything I can to get a job and I still feel like this trial that Jon and I are experiencing will end soon. I also know that this trial is something that Jon and I will get through together. This summer was a fun one for Jon and I. We had a lot of family parties, we went to Lagoon, we celebrated our wedding anniversary in August, and we went to the Depeche Mode concert at the E-Center in West Valley and had a blast.

Last weekend we went to Farmington and hung out with our friends Bronson and Katrina Barber and had fun with them.Jon and I are hoping that the situation we are in now will end soon because I am ready to go back to work so I can help contribute to bringing the money in so that we can pay our bills and it will also help Jon so he can go to school next semester and instead of living off one paycheck we can live off two. All Jon and I ask is for everyone in the family to pray for us because we both feel that with our prayers and yours that Heavenly Father will answer our prayers and he will send me a job. We hope that everyone is doing well and we look forward to hearing from you.

Hello All,

Glad you could make it. Welcome to the 21st century, where we no longer rely on the postal service to help us keep in touch!

Mom and Dad (Kent and Louise) asked me to write a quick explanation of what will be required for each of us to read and/or write to this "blog". Many of you are certainly familiar with this process and won't need any help at all, but for the rest of you...let me explain what you'll need.

First, in order to read the "articles" (posts) by others you don't need to do anything special. Simply using your web browser on an internet-connected computer will do the trick. Type in goldsberryfamily.blogspot.com in the URL bar at the top, and you're here!

Anyone can browse to this site and read articles, but in order to "post" or "publish" an article (like a letter) you will need what is called a Google Account (more on this in a moment). Ideally this would not be necessary, however without this step we can't keep anonymous posters from submitting "blog spam", which, just like your email inbox, often clutters up an otherwise useful tool.

Since Kent (and Louise) are handling the letter this year, they will be adding any and all "posting" accounts. Simply send an email to Louise with an email address (or list of email addresses) to set up. She'll add the address, and within 24 hours you should receive an "invitation" to author on the blog. At this point, you'll need a Google Account.

Creating a Google Account is easy to do and is absolutely free. You might already have a Google Account, and if so, you can use the same account here. You already have a Google Account if you have an email address @gmail.com or if you already use other Google services (PicasaWeb, Reader, Calendar, etc.). Assuming you don't have a Google Account, you'll be asked for your email address and a password -- and that's basically it. Oh, and you'll be asked to type in some letters that are all distorted, just to prove you are a real human. The distorted letters, by the way, are called a CAPTCHA and as much as we all hate them, they do serve a purpose. But I digress...

Once your account is added, you can (and should) post as often as you'd like. Make sure to include pictures and links to your own blogs if you have them. Please email Louise (louisegoldsberry@yahoo.com) with your own blog addresses, so that we can add them to the right-side menu. Also, let Louise know if you have any missionaries so we can add them as well. Any other ideas are appreciated as well. Comment on other peoples pictures and posts. Lets get to know each other a little better.

I, for one, am looking forward to "seeing" more of each other.
